TORONTO - More than 135,000 Hydro One customers across southern Ontario remain without power following a wind storm that pounded the region Thursday.

Crews are working on restoring service, with hookup times scheduled throughout the day and into this evening.

People in some areas near Cornwall, in eastern Ontario, could be without power until Saturday night.

Meanwhile, four Ottawa-area schools -- J. H. Putman Public School, Manotick Public School, Metcalfe Public School, and Osgoode Township High School -- are closed today because of power outages related to the storm.

Lockview Public School in St. Catharines is closed for repairs due to storm damage.

Thursday's storm packed winds approaching 100 kilometres per hour, and is blamed for the death of a 78-year-old man near Grimbsby.
